Heartwarming Rescue of Rico

Fluffy white kitten with dark markings on its face sitting indoors.

While working for Friends of Felines, I was asked to pickup up a kitten from a caller needing help.  We were told the kitten had a severe eye infection, and they were not in a position to help it.  It turns out that this little was born without eyes.  And yes, the area was severely infected.

Close-up of a serene gray and white cat with eyes closed.

Rock turned grow up as a happy and healthy who you would never know was blind from his actions.  He can pin-point another cat across the lawn (included cat area) and go right to it!  Rarely bumps into things in the boarding area.

A cool cat wearing round sunglasses against a black background.

Rocky is the official greeter in the cat boarding area.  He loves everybody, and gets along with all of our feline guests.  He has officially become the Penelope Paw Prints mascot.

Heartwarming Rescue of Rico

Rico ... Rescued from severe neglect, Rico was underweight and suffering from advanced mange  He was too weak to enter the rescue vehicle without assistance.

Rico required medicated baths 3-4 times per week to treat severe mange.  He patiently endured each treatment as his skin began to heal.

Rico happily left with Michelle and her son Brian to begin his new life in a loving forever home filled with adventure.

Boo Bear Finds his forever home

Penny got a call from her partner in cat rescuer (Melinda) and was asked to loan a trap to a woman who lived nearby Penny.  There was a "feral" cat with a terrible leg injury and property owner was unable to trap him ... so for weeks he suffered.  If trapped Penny was to take him to the Humane Society where he would be humanly euthanized.

He was trapped within an hour. HOWEVER when Penny arrived to transport him, she quickly found out he was not feral.  Just scared and in pain, but still managed to gently rub up agains her hand on the trap.  So he was taken to a local vet where he underwent repair surgery.  The dressing had to be changed daily.  Boo sat quietly throughout the ordeal.

So "Boo Bear" is now living with Penny and Rob.  He tested positive for FIV, which is kept in check by good care,  and he also has Manx syndrome which results  in occasional litter box mishaps. That makes him pretty much impossible to place. If the right home ever came up, Penny might consider placing him.  For right now he is in a safe, happy home, where he is loved.
